Family Fun Weekend

David and I recently had a room booked at Callaway Gardens with a group from church and then were unable to attend the event - so - we moved our reservation and decided we would go as a family for our "Family Fun Weekend" Well - that was this past weekend and fun we did have!
We started the weekend by going to the West Forsyth HS football game on Friday night. We all enjoyed the game for different reasons - David was getting into the game and the kids loved the halftime show!

Saturday morning we hit the kids favorite breakfast spot (Dunkin Donuts) and then headed to Callaway Gardens. We spent the morning and early afternoon walking all over Callaway Gardens. We learned about birds of prey, fed the ducks, walked the butterfly exhibit, visited the pumpkin patch, navigated the hay and corn maze, you name it - we did it. The kids were troopers and had a great time. As we all started to get tired and hot - I remembered about a place that friends had told me about - the Pine Mountain Animal Safari. We decided to check it out. I am soooo glad we did - we all had a blast. I have never seen anything like it before. They say they have 1000+ animals n the grounds and you can litterally feed animals from sitting on a bus. We had giraffes, camels, elks, cows/bulls, ostrich, moose, buffalo, deer - eating from our hands. The kids were absolutely beside themsleves. We then spent another hour walking through another section of the park to visit even more animals up close. What an experience! The kids will be talking about this one for awhile.

The kids were so excited to also stay in our "home at Callaway Gardens" (that is what they called it all weekend). We had a little cottage and they thought it was so neat to have our own porch and also that we were going to have a family slumber party!

We came back home after a great big breakfast on Sunday and finished the weekend with another tennis win for me :) What a great way to finish a great "Family Fun Weekend"

Check out some of the pics from the trip....
